When life gives you lemons, become a Pilates instructor with our BASI Mat Probridge Program
We all know just how unpredictable life can be, one minute you have wonderous plans of grandeur to pursue the things most important to you, like becoming a Pilates Instructor, and the next moment reality kicks in and the goals most important to us tend to get put on the back shelf to make way for that which we urgently need to prioritise.
This is not to say that we don’t still dream with passion and hope looking towards the future, but well sometimes life just happens. Many parents know the sacrifice of putting their dreams on hold for the sake of their children or family, and then there are those actively aiming to follow their ambitions that may be set back for financial reasons. What truly matters is not the time it takes for you to reach your goals, but that you keep persistent until you do. There is respect in diligence and perseverance, and to show our appreciation for those constantly trying to improve their Pilates career, we have just the course to complement such a lifestyle.
BASI’s Mat Probridge Program is a specialized bridging course for the qualified mat Pilates professional, interested in experiencing the depth, intensity, and precision that only BASI provides. What’s more, it credits the experience of the qualifying professional for previous Pilates education, study and work.
In the true spirit of constantly developing one’s Pilates career and experience, this course is also excellent for students who have previously completed the BASI MAT Teacher Training Course. Clarification and nuances of movement allow the BASI graduate to revisit the original material by honing their existing skills with Rael himself.
The BASI Mat Probridge Program is divided into:
Module 1 - The fundamentals:
This covers the principles of Pilates, the study of the pelvis, correct breathing, exercise description, a historical overview of the Pilates profession and most essential of all, safety.
Module 2 & 3 - Anatomy 1 & 2:
This will take you through an overview of what is necessary to understand within the anatomical field, the correct terminology to be used, the study of the joints, centre of gravity, cueing & imagery. In the second section we then go through the anatomical movement analysis, muscles, aerobic & anaerobic exercise, as well as the BASI Block system.
Module 4 - Posture Assessment:
This covers the key principles of alignment, posture and posture assessment in Pilates. We then also take a look at different types of faulty postures.
Module 5 – Core strength - Back & abdominals:
An essential module, this takes you through effective exercises, contraindications for the spine, guidelines for successful teaching, and being a teacher.
Module 6 – Exercise adaptation:
At some stage in your Pilates career, you are likely to come across clients that for some reason or another, are not able to perform certain standard movements. This is where you will learn about exercise adaptation, exercise progression, modifications to exercise, using small equipment, and finally, constructing a complete and comprehensive program.
We at BASI encourage you to become the Pilates instructor you’ve always wanted to be, and to have the lifestyle and Pilates business you’ve dreamed of.
