Keen to Become a Pilates Instructor?  Attend our Pilates Instructor Courses!

If you are a Pilates fan and are interested in turning Pilates into more than just a hobby or a way of exercising, you may want to consider becoming a qualified Pilates instructor and actually earning money from teaching!  With the popularity of Pilates escalating, the demand for good Pilates instructors is also increasing, and there are many fascinating career opportunities opening up all over the globe for qualified and experienced Pilates instructors.

You can work on a cruise ship, in a studio, on a one-on-one basis with clients at their homes, or you can spend your days teaching Pilates to specific groups, such as the elderly, kids or pregnant women.  Nothing is more rewarding than having a career that fascinates you, and being able to earn money from something that you really like to do.  But before browsing for Pilates instructor courses and putting down payments to start your instructor training, there are certain considerations that you have to work through first, in order to ensure that you are on the right track.  Attending Pilates instructor courses and qualifying takes a long time and can be very costly, and this is why you have to be absolutely sure that being an instructor is what you want.

Considerations Before Starting Pilates Instructor Training

  • You have to be sure that you have the personality and temperament to teach a discipline that is so highly focused.  Just because you like Pilates and are good at it, it does not mean that you are ready to teach it.  Instructing can be very stressful, and you have to work out whether this is something you see yourself doing as a career.
  • Once you have decided on becoming an instructor, you have to think about the type of classes that you want to teach.  Would you prefer single clients, one at a time, or would you be more comfortable teaching a collective class in a studio environment?
  • Don’t think about specialising in a particular direction too early on – it is best to first complete the general certification course and get your qualification as an instructor.  Once you have gained some teaching experience, you will be better informed regarding the direction that you want to specialise in
  • Keep the cost of the course in mind.  Many Pilates instructor courses cost a lot of money, and are very time consuming.  Consider how the overall cost will affect you, and perhaps consider breaking your training down into separate modules that you can pay one by one, instead of forking out a massive amount of money for the course.
  • Find a course that fits in with your timing.  It is indeed possible to do full-time courses at certain studios. However, if you have a full-time job that you rely on for an income, you may not be able to afford to take too much time off, and you may be forced to do evening classes or to attend classes over weekends.  Find Pilates instructor courses in your area that can accommodate your schedule effectively.
