I am originally from Pretoria, where I attended Pro Arte School of the Arts majoring in ballet. I then moved to Cape Town and obtained my BMus Degree in Dance at UCT School of Dance in 2004 where I was first introduced to Pilates. After travelling to the USA and UK, I returned to South Africa embarking on a career in advertising. A few years I longed to get back to movement and teaching and thus completed my BASI® Comprehensive Teacher Training in 2014. I am currently the owner of Glow Pilates Studio in Sunset Beach, Cape Town and absolutely love what I do #thepilateslife
Born in Bulawayo Zimbabwe – Lorraine followed a dance career until a she was forced to abandon this due to developing a form of spinal arthritis (Ankylosing Spondylitis). After marrying Mark and having her two sons, Travis and Rowan she qualified as an Aqua Aerobics instructor in 1995 and opened Take the Plunge, Aqua Fitness in Klerksdorp. As her disease improved she furthered her training in Body Conditioning, Indoor Cycle, Aerobics, Step, Pump, Pilates, Ante-Natal Exercise and Zumba and has been teaching for the last 11 years at gyms in the Richards Bay area. Lorraine opened BodyLine in Meerensee Richards Bay in 2012 and now employs 10 part time instructors. Lorraine is Internationally Pilates qualified through BASI (Body Arts and Science Institute). The motto she lives by Just Keep Moving.
I come from a background of dance doing both Ballet and Modern until my early twenties. After a fall on the ice whilst living in the UK and breaking my coccyx and fracturing my lower spine I returned to Pilates as part of my rehabilitation. I've always loved movement in all forms and I completely fell in love with the method and learning more about moving safely. I loved my time as a client so much, I decided to quit my corporate life, move back to South Africa to specifically study BASI in the sunshine and open my own little studio....the quiet life was calling. I am MTTC and CTTC qualified and excited to continue to learn, continue to grow and to then share that knowledge and passion with my clients.
I am a proactive team player, with a positive, vibrant attitude. I am currently thriving as an accomplished BASI Comprehensive Pilates instructor and Booty Barre at my own studio, Dynamic Posture Pilates, in Rivonia Johannesburg, certified in May 2009. The moment I was introduced to Pilates 11 years ago I was hooked! Pilates became and still is my passion in life. Every day I wake up with a purpose – which makes for a very fulfilling life- for which I am grateful for. Everything that I do centres around Pilates. I am a driven, dedicated BASI instructor whose attention to detail is of benefit to all new, and long-standing clients. The highlight in my career has been completing my Mentor BASI Course 2012 with Rael Isacowitz, Master Instructor and Founder of BASI Pilates, I attended the second time with Theo Botha in 2019. I endeavor to complete the Legacy program in the future. Pilates, Dance, Equestrian riding and cycling are an inspiration in my life which I have excelled in throughout my life. I am so blessed to be in a career that gives me the opportunity to share my passion and fascination in the art of human movement. My one true love and life besides Pilates are my beautiful two daughters Taylor-Anne and Georgia-Lee whom I cherish and live each day for.
I am 47 years old and have been teaching pilates for the past 13 years. Originally in White River, Mpumalanga and Nelspruit where I owned a studio. I moved to Ballito/Salt Rock 5 years ago. I have a daughter of 23 and a son of 21. I am happily married.
